Why compressed air is expensive to waste

Compressed air is one of the costliest utilities in a factory. A large share of that cost is often not production use-it is leakage, artificial demand from high pressure setpoints, and inefficient treatment or distribution.

1. Find and fix leaks

Leaks at fittings, quick couplers, open blow-offs, and worn seals run 24/7. An ultrasonic leak survey during a quiet shift often pays back quickly. Repair prioritised leaks before increasing generation capacity.

2. Review pressure settings

Every extra bar of pressure increases energy use. Confirm the highest real point-of-use need, then set generation and regulation accordingly-not "as high as the compressor can go."

3. Match treatment to the application

Oversized or poorly maintained dryers and filters add pressure drop and power. Undersized treatment risks moisture and product or tool damage. Align dryer type (refrigeration vs desiccant) with dew-point needs.

4. Improve distribution
