Many plants still distribute compressed air in threaded mild steel (MS) lines. Over time, corrosion, joint leakage, and pressure drop at the far end of the network raise energy use and starve tools or machines of stable pressure.

When MS may still be considered
Very short runs, extreme mechanical abuse zones, or specific site standards may still use steel. For main headers and typical factory distribution, modular aluminium is often the better long-term choice.
